Heritage News. Diesel action from the Severn Valley and Great Central Railways.

Cross Country to East Anglia. Rare and unusal workings on the line through March with Class 47s on a coaching stock move to Great Yarmouth, HST movements with 47 power, a Class 37 convoy from Stowmarket to Crewe plus additional workings and archive from the early 1980s.

Steam in the Sixties. The last steam special in the North West on the 4th of August 1968 with Black 5s & Standards including 70013 ‘Oliver Cromwell’.

Barry Survivors 297 withdrawn locomotives were sent to Woodham Brothers at Barry. Amazingly over the years 213 would be rescued for a new life on Britains Railways. We contrast them in the scrapyard and back in steam. Features 34067 ‘Tangmere’, BR Standard Class 4 75014, Standard Tank 8

Settle & Carlisle Memories. A look back at steam in the early 1980s when the route was down for closure. Many locations are featured in this compilation of archive film including snow scenes at Ribblehead Viaduct.

Winter on the Severn Valley Railway. Steam and snow on the Severn Valley Railway in late December! Dramatic scenes are included high above the line between Bewdley and Kidderminster.

A cab-ride journey aboard Class 50 No.50049 hauling a new Class 720 unit ultimately destined for Greater Anglia. First we travel from Derby to Litchurch Lane Works to pick up the Class 720 unit before reversing back to Derby and onwards to London Road Jct, Spondon, Long Eaton, Sheet Stores Jct, Trent West Jct, Trent South Jct, Redhill Tunnel, Ratcliffe Jct, East Midlands Parkway, Loughborough North Jct, Loughborough, Barrow-Upon-Soar, Sileby Jct, Sileby and Syston North Jct where we leave the Midland Main Line via the spur to Syston East Jct.


We now travel down the Manton Line (which bypasses Leicester) to Melton Mowbray, Oakham, Manton Tunnel, Manton Jct, Wing Tunnel, Glaston Tunnel, Seaton Tunnel then across the famous Welland Viaduct at Harringworth, through Corby Tunnel, Corby Station North Jct and Corby.


We then continue via Corby Station South Jct to Glendon Jct (where we rejoin the Midland Main Line), Kettering North Jct, Kettering, Kettering South Jct, Harrowden Jct, Wellingborough North Jct, Wellingborough, Wellingborough South Jct, Sharnbrook Tunnel, Sharnbrook Jct, Bedford North Jct and Bedford.


Once again, we leave the Midland Main Line at Bedford Station Jct and travel along the Bedford to Bletchley Line (soon to tbe part of the East-West Railway) passing Jowett Sidings Jct, Bedford St Johns, Double to Single Jct, Kempston Hardwick, Stewartby, Millbrook, Lidlington, Ridgmont, Aspley Guise, Woburn Sands, Bow Brickhill, Single to Double Jct, Fenny Stratford, Fenny Stratford Jct & Single line Jct before terminating at Bletchley.
