The Severn Valley and Llangollen Railways

The Severn Valley and Llangollen Railways

CATALOG SUSPENDED

Ref: GW211D

OUT OF STOCK

Price:£12.95

See an RPS award winning video of the Severn Valley, made in 1995. The Llangollen Railway was videod in 1996, the first year of services through the Carrog. Released March 2007.

About "Severn Valley & Llangollen Railways"

GWP made an award winning, hour-long video programme on the Severn Valley Railway in 1995. It has been digitally remastered and placed on DVD.

The award by the Royal Photographic Society was made for the excellent standard of photography.

Now the programme's on DVD, that quality can be seen to real advantage for the first time, with 60009 coming down the camera, a GWR Mogul rolling over the Victoria Bridge, the Pannier tank doing its stuff - all the sights and sounds of the premier preserved railway in 1995.

The Llangollen Railway was videoed in 1996, the year that services were restored through Carrog.

The excellence of the scenery in the Valley of the River Dee is supplemented by the grace of the GWR Castle locomotive Defiant, as it gently chuffs along the valley floor with itd train. You will also see a genuine GWR Auto Train, with the regulator in the front cab of the auto-coach being used to control the 0-4-2 tank locomotive propelling. It is a compelling one hour's delight of steam in action on this scenic railway.

The Watercress Line 97 (20th Anniversay)

The Watercress Line 97 (20th Anniversay)

CATALOG SUSPENDED

Ref: GW346D

Price:£12.95

Large steam locomotives working hard star in this double feature combination of our two earlier releases shot in 1993 and 1997 on the Mid Hants Railway.

About "Watercress Line 97 (20th Anniversary)"

Two programmes are offered together on this disc, giving 120 minutes of viewing pleasure. The 'Watercress Line', made in 1993 shows the big engines in action, with footage of 76017, Canadian Pacific, Swanage, 92203, Britannia, 257 Squadron andothers, including the tne inaugrual run of newly restored Standard 5, 73096. There is a footplate ride and lots of lineside action, well edited and clealry photographed. It is by all accounts a most interesting glimpse of the scene some time ago, shot in wonderful weather and put together by broadcasting professional; so the standard of editing is excellent, there is a quality commentary and the pictures are clear and sharp.

In 1997 The Watercress Line celebrated its 20th Anniversary and this was marked with a special one-hour long video. The prgramme features the visit of the big LMS Stanier Pacific Duchess of Hamilton with linesdie and footplate scenes at the March 1997 Gala. The then recently restored SR, U Class Mogul, 31625 is featured along with footage taken through the year of locos like: LMS Black 5, M5337; LNER A4 Pacific, 60007, Sir Nigel Gresley; 73096; 31874; 30506 and 34105, Swanage.

As with all Whistler videos you can expect dramatic lineside and footplate action but now with the addition of superb DVD quality these scenes can be seen as never before, clear and sharp.
