AUSTRIA - not often covered on film is the mainline between Wörgl and Saalfelden through the ski resort of Kitzbühl. We filmed the line over three years to bring you an overview of current-day operations through some wonderful mountain scenery.

GERMANY - our Hot-Spot feature takes us to the Rhein and the junction at Bischofhofen as well as Mainz-Kastel not far from Wiesbaden. Freight and passenger trains are seen in abundance with classes 427, 428 and 430 dominating passenger workings, with class 139, 143, 147, 151, 152, 185, 186, 187,189, and 294 all making an appearance.

BELGIUM - freight action from Antwerpen’s south dock including the new Antigoon tunnel line. Class 77 and 66 dominate.

CZECH REPUBLIC
- an evening on a mainline south-west of Prague. We call in to Karlstejn station where classes 471, 362, 122 and 363 are seen on services to Beroun and Plzen.

SWITZERLAND - a look at traffic through Immensee on the Gotthard mainline. Two year’s worth of filming brings you a whole host of motive power types, with mountain backdrops.

FRANCE - the warning signs have gone up with regards the replacement of loco-hauled stock; we take a look at the Paris - Caen - Cherbourg line with BB26000 and BB15000 in full flight…..

FRANCE - lineside action from Brittany on the line between Rennes and Brest.

HUNGARY - a look at cross-border action from Hegyeshalom with home-grown and Austrian motive power on view.

Railjets, freight, modern local passenger trainsets and loco-hauled trains are all included.

ITALY - a journey to Sardinia to look at the narrow-gauge Ferrovie Della Sardegna (FdS). Modern suburban trams are witnessed as well as older 1960s built stock still in everyday service - a fascinating railway operation on what is a beautiful island.

FRANCE - the second visit to the country as we witness loco-hauled passenger and freight action on the line north-east of Paris near Compiegne. BB15000, BB22200, BB27000, Class 186, BB60000, BB75000, z26500 and Vossloh G1206 are all seen in action.

GERMANY - the second part of our look at freight operations through the town of Lintorf to the south of Duisburg. Classes seen include: 151, 152, 155, 185, 186, 189, 193, 203, 77, 261, 265, 1275 and 1277.

AUSTRIA- a look at the main freight route south of Vienna towards Wiener-Neustadt at the junction at Wampersdorf where a secondary passenger line joins. Mixed freight and local passenger dominate.

ITALY/FRANCE - passenger train action at Ventimiglia and south of Cannes. BB22200, TGV and z23500 dominate during our Côte d'Azur stopover.

SLOVENIA - a return to Rakek on the main line south-west of Ljubljana on the route to Italy and Koper, now fully re-built after the devastating ice-storm of February 2014. Classes 312, 363, 541 and 664 are all seen on this major European freight route.

POLAND - the junction town of Krzyz lies in the north-west of the country on a busy coal export route. Loco-hauled passenger trains are also commonplace as well as modern electric and diesel multiple units. This section looks at the main photographic locations either side of the town as well as a look at stored diesels to be found on the depot.

GERMANY - the first of a two-part feature looking at the busy freight line linking Duisburg with Düsseldorf through the town of Lintorf. This hot-spot feature shows the types of train that can be seen by the railway observer and includes classes: 145, 151, 152, 155, 185, 189, 203, 211, 212, 221, 66, 77, 261, 265, 1275, 1277, 294, 628 & BB37000.

FRANCE- a study of traffic from late morning to late afternoon on the main rail route north of Strasbourg - with a mixture of freight and passenger traffic, plus some vintage electrics in action.

SWITZERLAND - aboard a special train as we travel through the new Gotthard Base Tunnel. We call in to the underground station at Sedrun as well as a drivers-eye view of the tunnel and the journey in to Biasca.

CZECH REPUBLIC - it’s diesels all the way as we cover a rural line to the west of Prague. Classes 810, 814, 714, 742 and 750 all appear.

ITALY - a look at passenger train action on the mete-gauge FGC line from Genova north to Casella. We witness one diesel railcar in action that dates from 1929!

SWITZERLAND - a second visit to the country, this time to witness Steam over the old classic Gotthard mountain line featuring preserved C5/6 no: 2978 on a special working from Erstfeld to Biasca and return.

NETHERLANDS - we call in to Lage Zwaluwe to the south of Dordrecht to witness freight and passenger action on a busy main line. Classes 186, IRM, 2400, 2600, 4000, Thalys TGV and others all feature.

GERMANY - we follow the route to the east of Magdeburg, with 112, 114, 155, class 66, 218, 143, 155, 186, 386, 203, Blue Tiger and 1116.

GERMANY- one of the busiest freight corridors in the country lies just to the north of Würzburg along the valley of the River Main. We bring you the first of two features in this programme looking at action along the line just to the south of Karlstadt. Classes 111, 139, 145, 146, 152, 182, 185, 189, 193, 218, 482, 440, 650, 1116 and 1216 all appear.

AUSTRIA - a look at endangered class 1142 electrics at work on the line between Attnang-Puchheim and Steinach-Irdning. We cover the route between Attmünster and Obertraun. Classes 1144, 4746 and 1016 also feature on a route surrounded by superb mountain scenery.

POLAND - regional passenger services are viewed in the north of the country to the west of Gdansk and also around Czersk and Chojnice.

FRANCE - mainline traffic to the north of Culmont-Chalindrey on the route between Dijon and Nancy. Classes x4500, 66, 77, BB64600, BB75000, BB26000, BB27000, 186 and TGV are all seen in action.

SWITZERLAND - we call in to the RhB station at Filisur to view GE 4/4 III electrics at work. From December 2016 the locos lost some of their work on this line to new class 3500 ‘Allegra’ multiple units.

GERMANY - Part 2 of our study of traffic along the Main River Valley: this time we focus on the panoramic views to be had from the vineyards south of Karlstadt that overlook the line and the river beyond.

ITALY - passenger and freight action from the north-west of the country around Novara. Diesel-operated rural lines feature with excellent views of the rice-fields and distant Alp Mountains. D445, D520, Aln 501, 663, 668, classes 186, 1216, 189, 474, 483, 633, 664 and 656 all feature.

GERMANY - a look back to 2009 and operations around Puttgarden and Lübeck with scenes showing trains running on and off the ferries, plus the Fermarnsund road and rail bridge. Also traction around the station and yard areas at Lübeck with 112, 363, 295, 628, 648, 218, 189, 145, 152, 185 & class 189.

SWITZERLAND - we study the main line between Luzern and Olten around the towns of Rothenburg and Sursee in June 2016. Class 232, 420, 620, 503, 523 and 460 are just some of those that feature on a mixture of passenger and freight train workings.

BELGIUM - we call in at Flamalle-Haute station on the route between Liège and Namur. A wide variety of power is seen including Am08, Am74, Am80, Am83, Am96, Class 21, 27, 28, 186, 77 & Vossloh G2000.

GERMANY- filmed in June and October 2016 we study traffic on the line between Neuss and Krefeld not far from Düsseldorf. Classes 648, 442, 145, 152, 185, 186, 189, 225, 1272, 119, 285, 294, class 66, BB37000, 275, 482 and 295 all feature on mainly freight services.

FRANCE - commuter trains on view south of Toulouse with a last look at a BB8500 in action before withdrawal.

SWITZERLAND - a ‘freight fest’ with an extended study of mainline traffic through the stations at Dottikon-Dintikon and Hendschiken leading to the Gotthard route. Plenty of Re 4/4 and Re6/6s on view, plus an heritage Trans Europe Express Unit in action.

ITALY - we travel to the Milan Smistamento Depot Open Day to witness a fine selection of preserved rolling stock. Five steam locomotives are seen in action from classes 625, 685, 800, 626 and ex-DR class 50. Electric classes seen working are from 189, 636, 626, 428 and 656. Included are many static exhibits and preserved stock.

SLOVENIA - a fascinating look at the very busy main line to the east of Ljubljana. Motive power comes from classes 310, 312, 315, 342, 363 and 363. We include the class 363: dating from 1975 and a class similar to the now-withdrawn SNCF CC6500, we see many members at work on heavy freight, intercity & local passenger trains.

SWITZERLAND - Freight and passenger action from the Rhätische Bahn from north of Thusis to Ems and Ilanz. Filmed in brilliant sunshine we include a superb scene filmed from high above the Rhine Valley. Eight freight services are seen as well as 14 loco-hauled passenger services with spectacular mountain scenery as a back-drop.

SLOVAKIA - mainly freight action from the cross-border station at Kuty close to the Czech border. Classes 742, 751, 753, 230, 240, 486, 193, 183, 810, 813 and 380 all appear.

GERMANY - a look at diesel-operated traffic around Marktredwitz. Freight diverts feature as well as loco-hauled passenger services feature.

SWITZERLAND - a second look at the country this time on the original ‘RheinfallsBahn’ north of Winterthur and also at Eglisau on the second route north to Schaffhausen. Re4/4, Re6/6, DB185, Class 450, 460, 511, and 514 are all seen.

BELGIUM - action from the north-west of the country looking at loco-hauled and other passenger workings, some of which have now disappeared - being replaced by more modern traction. Classes 21, 27 and 18 dominate.

SWITZERLAND - part 2 of our feature on the lines around Oensingen, including a look at a vintage electric at work at Balsthal on the OeBB. Classes 521, 523, Re4/4, Re6/6, 460, 465 and 923 all appear on a mixture of freight and passenger workings. This is a busy main line with a good deal of freight train activity, from block oil workings, to express freight, mail and mixed.

GERMANY - we have two features from the Dresden area. The first looks at the mainline to the north-west of the country where we drop in to Cossebaude over a 2 hour period. Secondly we look at the line from Chemnitz where it is the class 143s that dominate our viewing. The class will be withdrawn from the services seen from June 2016 onwards.

FRANCE - with new orders for Intercity EMUs now placed, the writing is on the wall for the country’s remaining loco-hauled workings - we call in to the line south of Paris towards Orléans to view the current locomotive activity. Class 7200, 26000 and 27000 are all seen in our 2015 and 2016 material.

NETHERLANDS - a look at Plan V and other units in action from 2015.

SLOVAKIA - diesel action on the line to the west of Kosice. Classes 712, 742, 751, 752, 754 and 757 appear on passenger and freight workings from this superb rural country line.

SLOVAKIA - we study trains and traction on the main route linking Bratislava with Budapest in Hungary. Beginning at Štúrovo close to the Danube we head north-west to a point close to Šala. Classes 230, 240, 263, 350, 361, 362, 363, 380, ES499, 671 and private classes 189 and 193 all appear on passenger or freight.

FRANCE - with 2016 likely to be the last year when CC72100 diesels will be seen in everyday operation; we visit the area to the south-east of Paris to look at the class in action. In addition, we also see B82500 bi-mode units, BB60000, BB75000, Y8200, Euro 4000 & Class 66.

AUSTRIA - the very busy main line to the south of Wien on the route to Hungary, Bratislava and Ebenfurth is our next location in the programme. Classes 193, 1116, 185, 1142, 1144, 4124 and 2016 make up the majority of traction types to be seen. The line is particularly busy with freight traffic of all types, whether it is transit or domestic traffic.

SWITZERLAND - this is the first part of our look at the Jura foot line to the east of Solothurn, through Wangen to Niederbipp and Oensingen as well as the branch up to Belsthal. This busy transit route boasts local passenger, intercity as well as significant numbers of freight trains. Classes, Re4/4, Re6/6, 460 and 523 make up the majority of types to be seen. We also feature both of the last green-liveried class Re6/6s - on consecutive trains!

GERMANY - a look at action through the Rhine tourist town of Rüdesheim. Our stopover covers the late evening and early morning with some great night sequences as a spectacular sunrise over the river. Classes 151, 152, 185, 189, 428, 482 are amongst those seen.

GERMANY - in our first section we take a look at trains and traction that can be found on the main rail route north of Augsburg, part of the through line between München and Nürnberg and onwards to Würzburg. There are a large mixture of train types to be seen with local services operated by new class 440 EMUs, class 612 diesel units and class 111-powered loco and coach formations. Intercity services feature Class 402 and 411 ICE trainsets as well as Class 101, 120 and MRCE 182 locomotives. Freight trains are more numerous with class 185, 186, 189, 151, 182 and 152 all featuring on a variety of intermodal, block freight and mixed wagonload services.

SPAIN – a journey is made to the south-east of the country on the route linking Madrid with Valencia and Alicante. Filmed in August 2012 we see both the classic and new high-speed lines close to the town of Almansa. The superb southern Spain scenery complements the trains as they make their way through the 40-degree heat, travelling on new rail lines through picturesque valleys lined with fruit trees and vineyards. A range of electric and diesel traction is seen at work.

AUSTRIA - the main marshalling yard south of the City of Vienna is the busiest in the country: we spend an evening in July 2013 watching trains depart on their way to destinations far and wide. Classes 1063, 1144, 185, 189, 1116 and 2016 dominate on the freight services seen. Also passing by are passenger trains on the line down to Parndorf including 1047 and 1116.

BELGIUM – a study of trains on the line between Leuven and Liege. Our location is around the town of Tienen, south-east of Brussels, as a variety of modern-day passenger trains are witnessed. Rush-hour commuter services dominate with new class 18 & 19, as well as older class 21 and 27s on a variety of coaching stock, together with EMUs on local stopping services.

GERMANY - a second visit to the country, this time to view diesels on the line between Buchloe and München in Bavaria. Class 218 and 223 dominate on the passenger services seen.

FRANCE - we take a look at the mainline between Paris and St.Quentin in the northeast of the country. Commuter, intercity and freight trains are all seen at a variety of locations. Electric multiple units in the shape of z26500 as well as new bi-mode (Bi-Bi) B82600 trainsets are witnessed at work, together with BB15000 and BB22200 electric locomotives on hauled passenger stock. On the freight side we see, ECR class 66, BB60600, BB75000 and BB27000 on various services.
